SNOWFLAKEFARMS Sherbert's Cadence Mirabella "Bella" was born on June 30th, 2014 at 6:00 AM. Here is a picture from that early morning. Currently, our herd of 139 animals make their residence at the farm.
On Friday morning at 8 AM on May 30th, 2014, "Sherbie" entered our lives. She was born about 5 years ago and raised on a farm in Nisula, MI and raised on pasture (no feed/grain) her entire life. Having had 4 previous babies, she is now pregnant again and due in the end of June 2014. She had never been in a trailer nor on a ride so the hour long trip made her quite nervous. By the time she arrived, she was ready to be out and she bolted and headed for the woods. It took about an hour to catch her and her previous owner was happy to see her in her new home. Having not settled down yet, with strange surroundings and a new family around her, Sherbie decided once more to break free and head for the woods. After a pursuit that took 2 days and many miles through the countryside, her previous owner assisted getting her again to her new home. The walk down the dirt road with numerous followers and Sherbie in the lead made it look like a mini parade. Contained by an electric fence, she walked around for many hours until she settled herself down and rested comfortably in her new pasture. Although she will follow us at times, Sherbie maintains her distance as she gets used to our large family. Welcome HOME Sherbie ... we are glad to have you here. A covering is God's way of keeping nutirients intact in the ground. Our first snow cover came on Monday, October 21, 2013. This will help protect the grass and plants from drying up during those harsh winter winds as the plants lay dormant awaiting the arrival of Spring. The 2013-2014 Winter season is upon us here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It's time to head indoors and start planning for Spring 2014. It's now the end of February and the harsh winter is still upon us. It has been a cold one with frozen pipes and sub zero temperatures ... bring on Spring! |
